On this day in live music history: Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge - Me & Bobby McGee (1-5-79)

Husband and wife at the time, two of country music’s biggest stars came together for a four night run at the Bottom Line music club in New York City.  The second night was broadcast live on WNEW, which is when this version of one of Kristofferson’s biggest hits (thanks in large part to Janis Joplin) comes from.  The couple would divorce the next year.
